Paying Respects (Redraw) by JinYaranda Paying Respects (Redraw) by JinYaranda
I drew this picture about nine months back, when I was feeling down about the anniversary of my grandparents' passing: [link]

But, since I've grown artistically in the past few months, and wanted to give this the proper treatment (and less Big Mac Fish Head), I decided to redo this one. Both for the fun of trying to better convey emotion and certain effects, and because the picture means a lot to me.

Do you guys like this one more? Or the original?

I like this one a lot more than the first one. In the original Applejack looked like her mouth was open for no reason. Like if you just relax your jaw and let your mouth open a bit.

This one... This one you can see the sides of her mouth are pulled back tight, the kind found when non stop sobbing.

The fact this version has no words vs the original ironically makes it speak volumes more about the scene.

Huh...wasn't aware it was being used for that video.  Thanks for the head's up.

Also, yeah, I'm very much more happy with this one than the last!

Must say, the first pic kept true to the show (as far as the art style) but this one... right in dem feels.
I hope you're feeling better, though I know those wounds will never truly heal.
Btw, great pics, both of them

Thank you very much.  The original was before I'd really gotten into my own style, honestly.  Was trying more show-style stuff, but the second is a lot more personal for that reason:  it's my style, and thus I feel a lot more attached to it.

Hey!  I'd wish you'd ask before doing it!  That's all.  As it is, I'm okay with it.  Just ask first, okay?

Passenger is an artist who tends to do more emotional songs. The song I was listening to was called "Let Her Go", which is basically about how you never realize how much someone truly meant to you until they're gone. In this case, it enhanced the effect of the picture and more or less resulted in leaky eyes.

It's sad, because their parents are confirmed to be dead and they don't wanna mention it on the show.

I am! It's flashy and fun, if slightly unwieldy at times (I used to love to take my Bamboo in my backpack to different places to draw; the Intuos makes that slightly harder!).

This one is definitely an improvement, I actually remember reading somewhere that they did put tombstones in an establishing shot, but were asked by Hasbro to delete the scene, never made it to air as far as I know.
